Samara Region Art Museum

Samara Region Art Museum is one of the biggest museums in Russia, with the unique collection founded in 1897, which has displays in two buildings. The museum's permanent expositions include about two thousands works of art, representing the following sections: Russian and foreign paintings, art of Easten countries, works of Samara painters, ceramics. The 18th century portraits by F. Rokotov, D. Levitskiy, V. Bovikovsky, paintings of such Intenerates as N.Ge, I. Kramskoy, V. Makovskiy, A. Savrasov are the pride of the museum. The museum exposition is represented by scaled canvases of I. Repin, a number of V. Surikov's sketches. The west-European section acquaints the visitors with R. Gober's, D.De La Penya's, F. Vouverman's, Ya. Bunka's works canvases of Italian, French, German painters. The collection of Chinese, Japanese and Indian pieces of art is one of the biggest in the Eastern countries and Russian province. The museum always participates in all the cultural programs and festivals. The precious art collection gives the museum possibility to take part in foreign exhibitions.
