MAUSOLEUM AND FORTRESS OF THE TOWN OF BODRUM
During this half-day excursion you will have the possibility to see the remnants of the mausoleum, which is considered the one of the Seven Wonders of the World, and to visit the fortress of the town of Bodrum, where the only museum of underwater archaeology in Turkey is now situated.
The mausoleum was built in 350 ВС by the architect Pteos as the grave monument of Karia - Mausola. At this time the town underwent trie period of development of art, thus the fame about the monument spread everywhere and its name in all languages sounds as "Mausoleum".
The fortress, which has become the symbol of the town, was built in 1402 by the knights of the St. Joann's Order on the permission of sultan Mehmet Shelby.
